Choosing a topic:
The most difficult part of ENC 1102 class was to choose the topic for my research paper. I was choosing between the movies and the advertising. In order to pick the right topic one, I decided to consider my major and my interests together. My major is Digital Media. I like to make my ideas though short movies. I am more attracted to the process of making a film for Advertising. I usually shoot short films of my daily life to develop myself more in this area. As a result, I chose to do a research paper about Media Advertising of Nike, Reebok and Adidas company. The main question of the study was born outright when I was sitting in the class, and I saw how many my classmates wear Nike, Adidas or Reebok: “Do you think people would buy shoes of Nike, Reebok and Adidas company, if these organizations did not have a great advertising?” Also, not all my classmates are Americans, some of them are international that means Nike, Adidas and Reebok are popular throughout the world. Therefore, I found out the final thesis: Media Advertising of Nike, Adidas and Reebok company in the World Cup.
Finding supporting sources:
I used more sport magazines than articles from the Internet. For the reason that magazines or newspapers play one of the biggest role for advertising industry. Also, in order to show an example of the companies’ advertising, I demonstrated the video from YouTube and the pictures from website of Nike, Adidas and Reebok.
Presenting the plan:
The process of dossier helped me to choose exactly information which I wanted to see in my study. In the beginning, it was hard to start to write the introduction of dossier, but when I did it, I noticed a lot of empty spaces which I could develop. This dossier was definitely useful before starting the research paper.
Analyzing a source:
This step of analysis opened for me new doors to support my idea. The article, which I analyzed, matched with my ideas so good that I discovered even extra interesting materials.
Pitching the idea:
Before submitting the final draft, I needed to chose the TED topic. I combined my research thesis with the interests of my audience. I talked about why Nike is more successful to sell their products with using the advertising as a marketing strategy than Adidas and Reebok. I did a short presentation where I analyzed the most famous ad of each company.
